Recollections
Saw some old letters
From a life once tender
With love. Artifacts
Of memory that you hid
From gushing time, and
The powerful sweep
Of cosmos and lights.
Protected from the cataclysm
Timorously, with care
Once-upon-a-time's trivial ware.
Declaring, "no one stakes
Rights on these. They're mine."
But, in your absence,
These items are stray
Unowned, unguarded
Sans refuge today.
They belonged to your
Depths of quiet fervor
Who do you belong to
On this day of no more?
