Questioned softly
To the emergence of being
“Who are you?”
It went unanswered.
Years followed years
To the last sun
To the last question.
As the sky to the west
Over a swelling ocean
Turned rose and rust,
The silence of dusk
Softly breathed,
“Who are you?”
It went unanswered.

The sun of the first dawn
Had asked the living soul
On its first appearance
'Who are You?'--
There was no response.
Years passed,
On a still twilight
In the far horizon of the western seas,
The last sun asks,
'Who are You?'
There is no response.
